PRP Therapy & Facials Scottsdale, Phoenix
What is PRP Therapy?
PRP therapy is the next step above prolotherapy. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma is essentially the part of your blood that contains all the amazing growth and factors mentioned above.
How Is It Done?
The injectable procedure is the same as prolotherapy, with one difference in the preparation of solution. Since we are using the body’s own plasma to heal, the first step is to actually draw the patient’s blood and separate out the PRP. This is exactly the same as having your blood drawn for any lab test and is relatively painless. The quantity of blood needed will vary depending on the area being treated. Numbing spray can be used for the blood draw as well as the actual injection to make sure you are comfortable!
What Is a PRP Facial?
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. This is the part of your blood that contains all the growth factors – things that are necessary for tissue repair and regeneration. In a one hour office procedure, your blood will be drawn by a medical professional and spun down in a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood. The procedure itself is performed by a licensed physician. Using a special pen-like tool, your own platelet rich plasma will be gently micro-needled into the first few layers of the skin, encouraging collagen production, moisture retention, the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, and an overall more youthful appearance. Dramatic improvements have been seen in conditions such as deep acne scars, sun spots, and rosacea.
Downtime is minimal, with mild to moderate redness lasting anywhere from 2-8 hours, depending on the person. A topical anesthetic is used during the procedure to minimize discomfort. Patients compare the sensation as to that of getting a tattoo. Avoidance of sunlight and topical products for the first 24 hours is recommended. After the treatment, patients generally report their skin feeling tighter and appearing more shiny. Effects are most apparent after the first week, when the skin has had time to regenerate using all the great tools we just gave it.
